"The toy shop that doesn't want you to buy toys"
Adventure Silks grew out of my first business, 100 Toys. It was a shop
built on one idea:
Play comes first.
If that meant recommending something found in your kitchen cupboard rather than a toy then that's what I did.
One customer famously left a review calling it "the toy shop that doesn't want you to buy
toys". I took it as a compliment.
Why silks?
Because simple toys are best. A toy that does one thing is finished the moment the
novelty wears off. A toy that does nothing in particular - a stick, a blanket, a square
of silk - makes room for the imagination, and for problem-solving.
A playsilk may be the most versatile toy there is. Today it's a river; tomorrow a cape,
a den roof, Rapunzel's hair, a picnic blanket, a storm at sea. It asks questions instead
of giving answers - which is what makes it, to our mind, the perfect toy. If you're ever

The goal is the same now as it was at 100 Toys: to help children become creative
self-starters - children who make their own fun.
Adventure silks
Each Adventure Silk is a generous one-metre square of 100% silk — larger, and a heavier
weight, than most playsilks — finished with hand-rolled edges. Every silk is
safety-tested to EN71, and comes in a tough cardboard tube for safekeeping when it's
not in play.
